Out of the many Disney releases slated or 2018, one that's flying just under the radar has finally given us a first glimpse at our suited up heroes. Antman and the Wasp, Marvel's July blockbuster, will see both Scott and Hope side by side this time in their respective costumes. The first film directed by Peyton Reed in 2015 served as both an origin story for both characters, with the last appearance of Antman in Captain America: Civil War and since we've known for a long time that both characters were going to appear in the Inifity War, it will be interesting to see who they're up against. The first film was also one of the funniest Marvel has done thus far and I have no doubt in my mind the sequel will be packed with just as many actions and laughs. You can read here to learn a bit more about the film and get excited for it's release July 6th, 2018.

Let's break this down. Deadpool 2 has now been moved up from it's release date of June 1st to May 18th, which generally wouldn't be a bad thing if the R-rated comic film wasn't between Avengers 4 May 3rd release and Disney's Han Solo, scheduled to be released May 25th. While comic book films are known for having massive box office drops in their second week, this many big blockbuster films is bound to step on each others feet. On the other hand, the budget for Deadpool's sequel was said to not be "astronomically larger" than the first, meaning that even with their box office run cut at the ankles, they will probably still turn a nice profit. With all of this comes the news now that the Han Solo movie's release date could change, which might be ok considering we are due for our first teaser trailer (allegedly) this coming Monday. As for Channing Tatum's long time plagued Gambit solo film, not only has it lost it's director in Gore Verbinski but it was also pushed back to 2019. (Note: Verbinski is the third director to leave the film following both Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt). The teen horror film New Mutants has moved from April to February 22nd of 2019, which is insane considering the film appeared to be done and would likely move into promotion phase soon. The other flip side is that Deadpool's release before Memorial Day weekend will likely result in a pretty nice box office run even if only for a few weeks before the release of other summer blockbusters like the Jurassic World sequel.
After a brief hiatus, I am back and ready to kick off the New Year! Expect lots of fun changes in the upcoming weeks and a promise to more fun reads, stories, and content! If you've been here for awhile, thanks for sticking around!
Great news for Hulu fans! Two of the streaming giants better original shows that debuted last year have been officially renewed for their second season. Marvel's teen mystery, Runaway's as well as the fantastically hilarious Future Man, are both getting a season 2 and I can vouch for both series as being loads of fun. Marvel's Runaway follows a group of teens as they try to discover the mystery their parents are hiding from them and the secret organization they are running, Pride. Future Man follows lead actor Josh Hutcherson as Josh who beats the final level of a video game whose characters suddenly appear in front of him and tell him that he is the true savior. The series are both really fun and Future Man was one of the best shows I watched in 2017. Get excited and binge these series if you get a chance! It's been a long time coming but the wait is almost over! It looks like we will be getting the official teaser trailer for the upcoming 2018 Marvel film, Avengers: Infinity War tomorrow morning during the Good Morning America broadcast. Whats more, it sounds like the trailer will be different from the SDCC footage shown to attendees earlier in the year as well, so they're in for a treat too. If you haven't been keeping up, various Marvel stars and publications including Vanity Fair, have published new photos of the Marvel heroes in costume, you can click this link for some reactions. Get excited for all the news tomorrow!
(Blogger update) Sorry for the lack of post, I spent the holiday with family and ended up getting very very sick so I haven't had the energy to do a thing but I'm back to it now and we will keep the ball rolling! True to Reynolds fashion, we have the first very awkward and kind of hilarious teaser for 2018's Deadpool trailer and I'm sure it's going to be all over the internet for the next 24 hours. Take a look at the brand new teaser and keep an eye out for some returning heroes, a short shot of Cable, and what might be the central villain of the film. Deadpool 2 is due out next summer on June 1st, 2018. Thor:Ragnarok took a lot of creative risks and it seemed to pay off big time. Thor opened the weekend with the 4th biggest opening weekend this year with a whopping 121 million for Marvel studios. If that isn't impressive, it the 17th consecutive number 1 for the MCU, which isn't much of a surprise but Superhero movies have certainly not lost their appeal. Thor: Ragnarok was easily one of Marvel most fun films currently with a 93% rating on rotten tomatoes and an A on cinemascore, it's definitely the movie to check out in theaters right now. It will most likely hold strong next weekend too, up until the release of DC's second film of 2017, the highly anticipated Justice League, which is sure to cut into Thor box office but, seeing as the movie has been fairly successful overseas, the God of Thunder shouldn't have much to worry about. Make sure you see Marvel's latest and look out for Marvel's next film, Black Panther, next February.
(Spoliers) It is no secret that we are in the middle of an over saturated period of superhero films. Marvel is already 17 titles into their massive and expanding universe with a 3 film commitment per year, not to mention any off shoot comics and DC working on catching up, the ever looming fear is that these movies will become so similar that audiences will turn on them but Waititi's made it clear that his Thor film would be very different from the previous ones and a majority of what makes comic books films. Filled with silly references like an amazing Willy Wonka tunnel scene, to a great call back making fun of Black Widow for this line it is by far one of the funniest comic book movies to ever hit the big screen. There's some hilarious cameo's from Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster to a completely unexpected Matt Damon and even Luke Hemsworth. He also managed to wrap up a great infinity gauntlet plot hole (and you will laugh when you see it). Hela is a fantastic villain, powerful, menacing and downright awesome to watch fight. As the most well reviewed Marvel film, Thor Ragnarok is looking to have one great opening weekend, which is good because (aside from Iron Man 2) the first and second Thor solo films are arguably lower on the list of good Marvel films. The actions awesome, the music is amazing, the easter eggs are plenty, and you won't stop laughing even up until the end. The movie, however, does change some significant things for Thor's lore and it will be very interesting to see what's to come when we see Thor again in Avengers: Infinity War. Waititi's comedy angled action brought some real life back into this franchise and allowed Hemsworth to shine at his best. The entire cast (Thompson, Ruffalo, Blanchett, and more) all benefited from this highly comedic and lose style of film and we can only hope he will get to work with Marvel again as he has expressed interest in doing a Thor: Ragnarok 2 and not a Thor 4. If there is anything you do this weekend, make it to the theaters to see this!
Marvel dropped a new Black Panther trailer and it knocks the first out of the water. Take a look at the action packed and gorgeous trailer below and be ready when this movie hits theaters February 16th, 2018. Marvel caused quite the controversy earlier this year with the announcement of their Secret Empire comic which featured a Captain America that worked for Hydra as part of rewritten time line and now we have the result from the recent comic event. Multiple sources in the last few days have been commenting on the final issue of the 10 issue run for Marvel's Secret Wars and its extremely unsatisfying ending. The fact that there was no lasting really substantial lasting effects from the conclusion begs the question as to why Secret Empires was necessary in the first place. If that wasn't bad enough for readers of the comic itself, it seems to have cost Marvel more than a respected fanbase after pulling this stunt. IGN states that, "Secret Empire #1 sold less than a third of what Secret Wars #1 did two years earlier (157,517 copies compared to 527,678 copies). Sales figures for more recent issues have dipped below even 2011's Fear Itself, one of Marvel's lowest-selling event comics ever." The unpopular comic is not all that surprising given the fact that a number of retailers refused to participate in the Marvel takeover event which even saw comic store employees wearing Hydra T-shirts. While I am all for political allegory in comics, the most disrespectful thing you can do is use something overtly offensive as a cash grab. Hopefully Marvel will learn from this foul stunt and think twice before green lighting such a poorly done comic.
The beginning of the end of the Marvel Cinemative Universe begins today. The directors, the Russo brothers, of both the final two films in the Avengers series posted a purple glove raising 4 fingers on Facebook today. The film that will follow 2018's Avengers: Infinity War has been rumored to be titled Infinity Gauntlet. Spider-Man's solo title sequel should begin the events of the 4th phase of the Marvel Universe and are said to be very different from what we've seen so far. There is also a lot of speculation around who's wearing the glove, as the Russo's gave no explanation of who it belongs to. Avengers: Infinity War will hit theaters May 4th, 2018 while Avengers 4 will hit theaters May 3rd 2019. Are you ready to say goodbye to some of our most iconic super hero actors over the past decade?
